THE BEEHIVE RETREAT CENTER
Ken and Phyllis Reeves are the owners/managers of The Beehive Retreat Center. They live nearby and both work to keep the retreat center running smoothly. Ken and Phyllis are the former owners of Patchwork Plus and Ken continues to service Handiquilter longarm machines. Phyllis is a quilter and quilt instructor who specializes in Studio 180 tools and scrap quilts. She has been leading retreats for over 20 years and has a waiting list for many of her retreats. She is willing to host a class for your group.
The Beehive Retreat Center is the perfect getaway in Virginia for quilters, crafters, knitters, scrapbookers, or anyone wanting to escape to a place of solitude. Located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Broadway, Virginia, the Beehive Retreat offers close proximity to JMU, caverns, vineyards, breweries, and of course quilt shops. We have tried to think of everything to make a getaway with your creative friends a lasting memory.
ACCOMODATIONS
The Beehive Retreat rents as a complete retreat venue. Relax with up to 10 friends in the home like setting of The Beehive Retreat. All of the sewing, ironing, sleeping, and cooking spaces are under one roof. The sewing and ironing area is separate from the cooking and sleeping spaces.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make all of your own meals. Dishes, glassware, coffee mugs, pots and pans, and bakeware are all provided. There is also a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and stove/range in the kitchen. Small appliances include a coffee pot, Keurig, toaster, crockpot, and blender. If cooking is not for you, a list of local eateries is located in the home.
Bedrooms
There are 4 bedrooms, all located on the second floor. Each bedroom has 2-3 twin beds, fitted with a cozy quilt. There is also a power strip beside each bed for all of your charging needs. All bedding and linens are provided.
Bathrooms
There are two full baths both with shower/tub combo. These are located on the second floor. There is one half bath located on the main level. Toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided in each bathroom. All towels are provided.
Sewing Space
The sewing area includes 10 tables (19” x 48”) with comfortable office chairs. Each table has a power tower. There are design boards located on three walls. There are also 3 ironing stations and a cutting station. The sewing area can be accessed from within the house or directly from the parking area with no steps.
Living and Dining Area
There is a TV located in the living room. There is free Wi-fi in the home.
RATES AND RESERVATIONS
Each group of Quilters or Crafters MUST appoint a group coordinator to arrange and book your stay at The Beehive Retreat. This group coordinator will:

Guidelines

MINIMUMS – 4 guests for 2 nights or $350.00 per night for groups of less than 4 people

MAXIMUM – 10 guests

DEPOSIT - $100 non-refundable due at the time of the reservation

PAYMENT – Total payment due 30 days prior to arrival. If your reservation is made less than 30 days before arrival, the full payment is due to secure your dates. We accept personal checks mailed to Hapke LLC 487 Rosemont Dr. Broadway, VA 22815. We also accept Venmo for Kenneth Reeves @pmk8484 as a friend so neither one has to pay fees.

CANCELLATION – If you have to cancel inside 30 days prior to your arrival and after making full payment, you will forfeit the full amount unless a replacement group can be found.

FEES – Checks returned due to insufficient funds will incur a $35 fee.

CHECK IN/OUT – We are very flexible on both check-in and check-out if there are no other groups in front or behind your group. Otherwise, check-in is at 3:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am.

CHILDREN – No guests under the age of 18 without prior approval.

SMOKING – No smoking is allowed inside or outside of the house.

PETS – No pets allowed.

DAMAGES – In case something gets broken or damaged, please contact us promptly so that it can be repaired or replaced before the next group arrives. Please be aware that your group will be responsible for any excessive damage to the property, house, or contents.
